Inspector Training & Test Prep · Coming 2027
A field-built curriculum covering the full building envelope and its systems — from single-family homes to industrial complexes — including dedicated EIFS inspector training for the exterior wall systems that most inspectors are never taught. We'll also run hands-on EIFS installation and EIFS repair classes for contractors and crews. Taught by working inspectors, not a lecture hall. Training will be available onsite or virtually.
Classes begin in 2027. Enrollment is not open yet — join the interest list and we'll let you know as soon as it opens.
Most states, including Virginia, don't test EIFS on standard licensing exams — this is training the license itself doesn't cover.
Whether it's a single-family roof, a commercial curtain wall, or an industrial envelope, failures hide behind the finish long before anyone sees a stain. An inspector who understands the assembly — not just the surface — is the difference between a defensible report and a lawsuit.

Terminations, flashing, penetrations, and transitions between materials account for most failures — and most are invisible from the ground or a walkthrough.
An inspection report is a legal document, on a house or a warehouse alike. Untrained observations create exposure for the inspector and false comfort for the client.
Demand for envelope-literate inspectors outpaces supply across every property type, especially outside major metros.
When classes begin in 2027, every inspector will complete the core curriculum, then add the tracks that match the work they actually do.
Single-family and multifamily homes — siding, roofing, windows, and foundation-to-roofline moisture paths.
Retail, office, and mixed-use buildings — curtain wall, EIFS & stucco, storefront systems, and roof membranes.
Warehouses, plants, and distribution centers — metal panel systems, large-format roofing, and structural envelope wear.
Our EIFS inspector training track — a deep-dive add-on for exterior insulation and finish systems, covering moisture scanning, manufacturer specs, and defect patterns.
Each level builds on fieldwork, not just an exam. You'll move up by doing inspections under supervision, not by memorizing a manual.
Inverispect certifications (Associate, Certified Inspector, Master Inspector) will be private, industry credentials issued by Inverispect. They are not a municipal, state, or government license, and completing this program will not by itself authorize you to perform inspections that require a government-issued license in your jurisdiction. See our Exam Prep section for information on the separate PSI licensing exam and check with Virginia DPOR (or your state's licensing authority) for actual licensing requirements.

Covers building envelope fundamentals across property types and basic moisture-intrusion signs. Suited to estimators, adjusters, and contractors who need to read a building correctly.
The working credential. Includes diagnostic methodology, report writing that holds up in disputes, and one specialty track of your choice.
For inspectors ready to take on complex commercial and industrial assemblies, expert-witness work, or train the next level of Associates.
Five core modules built around real inspection scenarios, plus a practicum inside your chosen specialty track — including EIFS inspector training for those pursuing the stucco specialty. Every module will pair recorded instruction with reference photos and defect examples pulled from actual field reports — not stock textbook diagrams.
How walls, roofs, and foundations are meant to shed water and air — and how that changes across residential, commercial, and industrial construction types. Covers assembly types, common failure points, and how to read a building from the outside before you ever pick up a moisture meter.
Reading terminations, sealant joints, and flashing details; using moisture meters and scan grids to find intrusion before it shows on the surface. Includes side-by-side comparisons of passing and failing details so you learn to spot the difference at a glance.
Structuring findings so they hold up to a contractor's rebuttal or an attorney's cross-examination — photos, measurements, and defensible language. You'll work from real report templates and revise a sample report until it meets the standard we hold our own inspectors to.
Local code requirements, manufacturer installation guides, and where the two conflict in practice — across property types. You'll learn how to cite the intent of a standard without overstepping into code-official territory, which keeps your reports accurate and defensible.
Supervised inspections in your chosen track — residential, commercial, industrial, or EIFS & stucco — building toward Certified Inspector field hours. This is where classroom material turns into muscle memory: real properties, real defects, real report write-ups reviewed by an instructor.
Coursework will be self-paced online video and reading, with live instructor office hours for questions. Field hours will be scheduled directly with your assigned supervising inspector once you reach the practicum module.

Once enrollment opens, new cohorts will start monthly — no fixed start date to wait for. Join the interest list to be notified first.
Course videos, downloadable reference guides, editable report templates, and access to instructor office hours for the duration of your coursework.
Once you finish the core modules, you'll have a set window to complete your specialty track practicum and supervised field hours with an assigned inspector.
Separate from our certification tracks, starting in 2027 we'll also help candidates prepare for the national home inspector licensing exam administered through PSI — whether you're studying on your own or want structured review sessions.
Work through practice questions and weak spots in person at our Virginia Beach office, with an instructor who's been through the exam and the field.
Same review, done virtually — for candidates who aren't local or prefer to study on their own schedule.
This will be exam prep only. State pre-license coursework requirements are separate — check with Virginia DPOR for the current licensing requirements.
Inverispect program pricing will be announced when enrollment opens in 2027. In the meantime, here's a general picture of what building envelope training and PSI exam prep cost industry-wide, to help you budget.

Inverispect certifications will be private credentials issued by Inverispect — they are not a government or municipal license.
We know it's not always realistic to take four days off in a row. Starting in 2027, this four-day training program will run Monday through Thursday, held monthly, and you won't have to complete it in one sitting.

Day one (Monday) will start your course. Days two, three, and four can be completed on any later class date, in any order, spread across several months — whatever fits your work schedule.
Once all four days are finished, you'll be awarded your completion certificate. There's no penalty for taking your time between sessions.
Once classes begin in 2027, we'll hold each scheduled class as long as one registered student is enrolled, so a class won't get canceled out from under you.
Not sure yet if this profession is right for you? We're planning an interest-free payment option so you can try the classes without paying the full amount up front. Full details will be announced when enrollment opens in 2027.
No deposits or payments are being accepted at this time.
The completion certificate awarded for this four-day program will be issued by Inverispect. It is a program-completion credential, not a municipal, state, or government inspection license.
Starting in 2027, the Inverispect EIFS Installer Certification class will train applicators in the correct process for installing exterior insulation and finish systems and stucco coatings. Done in the right sequence with the right materials, the result is a wall that sheds water, holds its finish, and stays out of warranty disputes.
Barrier-style exterior insulation and finish systems: insulation board, base coat, mesh, and finish.
Moisture-drainage EIFS with a water-resistive barrier and drainage plane behind the insulation board.
Traditional portland cement stucco over lath: scratch coat, brown coat, and finish coat.
Fiber-reinforced one-coat systems over foam or sheathing, followed by a finish coat.
Related coatings and finish systems, and how they tie into adjacent claddings.
Confirming the substrate is sound, dry, flat, and fastened correctly before anything goes on it.
WRB application, window and door flashing, kick-out flashing, and drainage details at the base of the wall.
Adhesive patterns, board layout and staggering, rasping, and backwrapping for EIFS; lath and accessories for stucco.
Correct base coat thickness, mesh embedment and overlaps, and impact-resistant mesh where the wall needs it.
Mixing, application, texture consistency, working wet edges, and weather and curing limits.
Clearances, expansion joints, and sealant joints with backer rod — where most installation failures start.
The EIFS Installer Certification will be a private training credential issued by Inverispect. It is not a contractor license and does not replace any manufacturer-specific applicator approval. Always install to the system manufacturer's current specifications.
Starting in 2027, the EIFS Repair class will teach crews how to repair damaged EIFS and stucco walls the way they should be repaired: find where the water is getting in, remove what's failed, rebuild the assembly, and blend the patch so it disappears. It's built from decades of real repair and restoration work on Hampton Roads buildings.

Reading moisture readings and probe results, tracing the water to its entry point, and marking out the full repair area.
Clean cut-outs of lamina, insulation board, or stucco without damaging the surrounding sound wall.
Evaluating wet or rotted sheathing and framing, replacing it, and letting the assembly dry before closing it up.
New WRB and flashing tied into the existing wall, replacement board, mesh lapped onto sound lamina, and base coat.
Matching texture and color, working to natural break lines, and avoiding the patchwork look clients complain about.
Replacing failed sealant, retrofitting kick-out and window flashing, and documenting the repair with photos.
The EIFS Repair class completion credential will be issued by Inverispect. It is not a contractor license and does not replace any manufacturer-specific approval. Repairs should follow the system manufacturer's current repair guidelines.
Coming in 2027 for EIFS & stucco subcontractors, general contractors, and property or facilities teams who want their own people trained on the wall — install standards, defect recognition, and repair method — without putting every employee through a full inspector certification. The EIFS Installation and EIFS Repair classes will both be available to book for your crew.

We'll come to your shop or jobsite and train your team directly on install standards, common defects, and repair technique — in the field, not just a classroom.
Enroll a whole crew under one company account, with bulk-seat pricing and a dashboard to track each employee's progress through coursework.
Certify one foreman or lead through the full program, then have them run in-house training for the rest of the crew — with our materials and support.
Employees who don't need the full inspector credential will be able to take the EIFS Installation or EIFS Repair class on its own — no inspector exam or field-hour requirement.
Tell us the manufacturer systems and defect patterns your crew deals with most, and we'll tailor the modules to match your actual jobs.
A crew trained to spot and avoid the defects that generate warranty claims and callbacks pays for the training many times over.
While classes get ready for 2027, our founder is available now for hands-on inspection, consulting, and expert services.

Testing and inspection for mold growth and moisture intrusion in residential and commercial properties.
Indoor air quality testing and sampling to identify contaminants affecting occupant health.
Condition assessments across residential, commercial, and industrial roofing systems.
Exterior insulation and finish system inspections for moisture intrusion and installation defects, backed by decades of EIFS field experience.
Independent review of construction quality, defects, and building performance issues.
Guest instruction, workshops, and speaking engagements on building inspection topics.

Founder of Inverispect and Modern Wall Systems, an exterior wall restoration and inspection company based in Virginia Beach and in business since 1991. Decades of hands-on inspection, installation, repair, and restoration work across EIFS, stucco, and general building envelopes will give Inverispect's inspector, installation, and repair training its field-tested edge — the pattern recognition that only comes from being on the wall, not just in the classroom. Additional instructors for the Residential, Commercial, and Industrial tracks will be added ahead of the 2027 launch and as the program grows.
